Texas Holdem Poker, which is also frequently referred to as Texas Holdem, or simply Holdem is the most popular poker variant played in numerous land-based casinos and online poker rooms across the United States, Europe and many other countries of the world. Texas Holdem poker is a community card game, which separates this game from many other poker variants, where unlike in Texas Holdem each player holds a separate individual hand (in Texas Holdem each player is dealt two hole cards (individual cards dealt facedown) and may use any combination of these hole cards and five community cards dealt in the middle of the table.

Invented in Robstown (TX), Texas Holdem was played in casinos and card rooms of Texas and several surrounding states before its popularity suddenly surged in the beginning of the 21st century due to wide exposure on the Internet, on television, in magazines, in many movies and popular literature. During its popularization, Texas Holdem replaced 7 Card Stud, which was the most common poker variant in the United States, completely eclipsing the once most popular poker game. Today, No-Limit Texas Holdem is used in the nationwide and worldwide televised main event of the WSOP (The World Series of Poker) and the WPT (The World Poker Tour).
